Damage Commissioners and Experts
Damage Commissioner: designates a Recommended for Damage Commissioner status who has particular knowledge of the Maritime and Transport Insurance market within their geographical area of appointment without necessarily having the specialized technical knowledge of an Expert and whose missions are defined in paragraph 2.2 of the Rules applicable to Damage Commissioners and Experts Recommended by CESAM. Unlike the Expert, the Damage Commissioner can delegate all or part of his mission to a sapiteur.
Expert: designates a Recommended Expert carrying out, in a personal capacity and without the right to delegate to a sapiteur, the missions defined in paragraph 2.2 of the Rules applicable to Damage Commissioners and Experts Recommended by CESAM and who has technical knowledge specialized in their area of expertise. CESAM offers four networks of Experts specialized in the following fields: Goods Transport, Boating, Fishing and River Transport.
Whether Damage Commissioner or Expert, the Recommended has several missions:
- A mission to inform players in the Maritime and Transport Insurance market of any modification and/or event of which it becomes aware, occurring within the framework of its activities and in its geographical area of intervention, having an impact on activities relating to the transport of goods and/or on navigation conditions and/or on port activities.
- A disaster prevention mission.
- A post-disaster expertise mission.
